After her musical studies and work, Judit Sára Elek studied film theory and film history at Eötvös Loránd University. In 2020, she began her MA studies in documentary film directing at the University of Theatre and Film Arts, Budapest, where she actively participated in the resistance and the occupation of the university in defense of its autonomy. After the protests could no longer continue, she continued her studies at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, where she obtained her master’s degree.

Her first short film, Megálló (Station), received awards at several Hungarian festivals and also won a special prize at the Budapest International Documentary Festival (BIDF). As co-director of József ősszel (József in Autumn), she also competed at the Verzio International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival.

As an assistant director, she worked on major productions such as Tamás Almási’s Onódy – Emperor of the Sixties and Máté Fuchs’s Unprocessed.
As a production assistant, she contributed to films by Mihály Schwechtje (Divorce, A Hunt for Hedgehogs) and Renátó Olasz (Stars of Little Importance).
